Legal Secretary

Location: GATWICK, WEST SUSSEX

Job Type: FULL TIME

The Law Firm Group Ltd is seeking a self-motivated individual for a position within the Conveyancing Department. The Company is expanding rapidly across the UK with the acquisition of legal firms. Working in the County Oak, Gatwick office, the successful candidate’s role will require him/her to assist within the department.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To act as a point of contact between the clients in the absence of, or at the request of, the fee earners; taking telephone calls, making appointments, conveying messages and assisting with simple queries of a factual nature.
  • Ensuring that all documents and files are kept in an orderly manner and in accordance with such procedures as are in place within the Company.
  • Provide cover for Reception / Telephonist as required.
  • Undertake all tasks consistent with a legal secretarial role e.g. scanning, photocopying, sending and receiving facsimiles.
  • To attend Court, to sit behind Counsel as may be necessary, taking a full note of the proceedings and reporting to the fee earner concerned.

The requirements are:

  • You must be well spoken and presentable.
  • Must be able to handle own workload with minimal supervision.
  • It would be advantageous to have a working knowledge of DPS Software and/or Microsoft Outlook.
  • Be willing to learn our cloud-based Case Management System and digital dictation software.
  • To work in a paper-light environment.
  • Have good organisational skills with an ability to prioritise your own workload.
  • Have excellent time management skills.
  • Be able to parachute into new projects and see them to completion.
  • You must have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Commercial conveyancing experience would be a huge advantage.

  • To assist in the development of the Conveyancing Department.
  • To liaise with the Marketing Manager regarding the marketing of the Conveyancing Department generally and any marketing strategy that may be required.
  • Identify and develop potential client relationships.

The requirements are:

  • You must be well spoken and presentable.
  • Must be able to handle own caseload of clients with minimal supervision.
  • It would be advantageous to have a working knowledge of DPS Software and/or Microsoft Outlook.
